This publication reviews world trade developments in 2005 and considers selected long-term trends, with comparable statistics of trade by region and sector, including agricultural and mining products, manufacturing and commercial services. The appendices contain detailed tables, including data on merchandise trade by product, region and major trading partner for the major trading economies. Overall, the report finds that after reaching a three-decade peak in 2004, global economic growth decelerated in 2005, mainly due to weaker economic activity in Europe, the United States and a number of emerging markets.
