The book The Necropolis of Jebel Al-Buhais presents the findings of twelve years of archaeological excavations conducted by the Sharjah Archaeology Authority under the direction of Dr. Sabah Aboud Jasim, beginning in 1995, at the Jebel Al-Buhais site in the Emirate of Sharjah. It documents one of the most significant prehistoric burial grounds in the United Arab Emirates, containing hundreds of human skeletal remains dating to the fifth millennium BCE, in addition to approximately ninety tombs from the Bronze and Iron Ages. The volume provides a comprehensive analysis of funerary architecture, associated grave goods, and burial customs, offering valuable insights into the social organization, cultural practices, and belief systems of the region's prehistoric communities. As such, it represents an important scholarly reference on the archaeology of the United Arab Emirates and the Arabian Gulf, contributing significantly to the understanding of human settlement and cultural development in southeastern Arabia during prehistoric times.
