This compilation is not a collection of papers, but a rather well-edited collage of experiences in the transfer of library technical information, usually between developed and developing countries. The 33 papers gathered here describe many experiences in the transfer of library technical information, frequently between developed and developing countries. The contributors are librarians working in the US and across the globe who discuss the many ways new ideas are developed and carried to other countries--a process that helps make both the librarian's world more global and the community in which the librarian works more understandable for the people who live there. The process has been greatly heightened by technology, and a number of the papers consider technology topics such as automated catalogs and network systems; others consider issues related to education, cataloging, building design, marketing, and international cooperation.
