As British Naval Attache in Sweden from 1940 the author took a keen interest in German activities and relations with neutral Sweden. While not engaged in undercover activities he was disliked by the Germans and Swedish Military Security who kept him under surveillance. Eyewitness and contemporary accounts of many incidents including the British freighter's breakout to run the German blockade with ball bearings, the break-out of the Bismarck and the attacks which eventually sank the Tirpitz.
