Introduction: No Jews are as relentlessly reviled as the Jews of Hebron. There, according to Jewish tradition, Abraham purchased the first parcel of land owned by the Jewish people in their promised land to bury Sarah. Hebron Jews are a unique community of Jewish memory. In a conspicuous gesture of hospitality, he personally selected from his flock a calf, 2tender and choice,3 for their meal together. Encountering Adam and Eve in their sleep of death, he realized that the fragrant aroma emanated from the nearby entrance to the Garden of Eden.
