ملخص:A book like a pocket lamp that contests darkness: the darkness fabricated by those who have promoted a global blindness concerning what has happened in Palestine and Israel during the last sixty years. The battery of this remarkable lamp is true observation, and with it you discover exemplary courage in the most unexpected places. Pocket it! -- John Berger, author of From A to X, a novel inspired by the people of Palestine Our Way to Fight explores the stories of men and women who create glimmers of light and hope in the dark despair surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This is a vital intervention for all who care about peace and justice. Our Way to Fight is a fascinating, informative and very well-written oral history of contemporary peace-work in Israel/Palestine. In the book, readers meet an array of people engaged in non-violent peace-work in that part of the world: Palestinians who live in the occupied territories, Jewish Israelis and Palestinians living in Israel, and one or two people from that part of the world now living temporarily in the West. In their own words, these people describe their work, their near- and longer-term goals and hopes, their frustrations and in some cases their successes. The author's on-going commentary adds background and context about the people's lives, their activities and organizations, responses from their communities and reactions (political, administrative, military, judicial) by the Israeli government. As with his earlier oral histories, readers will recognize in this book Riordan's gentle, beautifully descriptive and reflective writing style. Although I've 'paid attention' to events and developments in Palestine/Israel over most of my seventy years, seldom have I ever come across detailed information as well-grounded and concretely-located as this book contains.
