ملخص:This book documents the inscription of the Heart of Sharjah and Sharjah Fort on the ICESCO Heritage List in the Islamic World, following the presentation of the registration certificate to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi on 28 February 2023. It highlights Sharjah’s historical importance as a major maritime trade center in the Gulf and the Indian Ocean during the nineteenth century, and its role in regional and international relations, including with British authorities. The book presents rare documents, photographs, and maps, including a map showing the ancient name of Sharjah (Sarca), attributed to Ptolemy between 1478 and 1508. It also outlines ICESCO’s standards for heritage preservation and management, and documents the site's architectural, cultural, and conservation characteristics.
