Only fifteen miles from downtown London RAF Hornchurch was a farm in the small country village of Hornchurch. It was taken over by the Government and made into an aerodrome. It was a fighter base, part of the defenses of London for almost fifty years. This book is a collection of photographs from in and around the air field, along with a small amount of text. Most of the pictures in the book is concerned with World War II. During that time it was a Spitfire base. Lots of pictures of the Spit in every situation imaginable from flying in formation to scattered around the countryside in pieces.
